USL League Two 2025 Playoff Structure: What Akron City FC Fans Need to Know

The 2025 USL League Two postseason format is set and with 144 clubs battling across the country, playoff spots will be earned—not given. For Akron City FC, the dream is very much alive.

The Division Is Wide Open
Akron City FC competes in the Great Forest Division, one of five divisions in the Central Conference. Right now, the race is tight—four teams, including ACFC, have just one loss, making every remaining match crucial. Two huge matchups this week against FC Buffalo, who currently sit ahead of us in the table, could make or break our playoff push.

Central Conference Divisions:

  • Great Forest Division

  • Great Lakes Division

  • Great Plains Division

  • Heartland Division

  • Valley Division

How to Qualify
Each division winner earns an automatic playoff berth. But there’s good news—three of the five second-place teams in the Central Conferences also advance, based on points per game. That means Akron doesn’t have to win the division to get in, but we do need to finish strong and keep pace in the standings.
