Akron City FC and St. Vincent-St. Mary High School Announce Extension of Partnership

Akron, OH - Akron City FC (ACFC) and St. Vincent-St. Mary High School (STVM) are pleased to announce the extension of their partnership for the 2023 and 2024 seasons. This partnership has been a valuable one for both organizations, as it has allowed ACFC to play its home games at Green Street Stadium and has provided opportunities for the STVM community to get involved with the team and raise funds for various programs.

"We are extremely happy to extend our partnership and facility agreement with St. Vincent-St. Mary for the next two seasons,” said Nick Turchan, Owner of Akron City FC. “It takes a village to run this operation and the support and hospitality we received from the school and its volunteer community in 2022 was huge. We are also grateful to continue to have the opportunity to play our home games at Green Street Stadium, the location near the heart of the city is ideal and the iconic skyline view is hard to match!"

Kyle Sasala, Athletic Director at STVM, also expressed his excitement about the extension of the partnership. “We are excited to continue our partnership with Akron City FC and value the positive impact this organization has on the Akron community. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to our campus for another successful season both on and off the field!”

During the 2022 season multiple STVM volunteer groups assisted with various facets of ACFC’s gameday operation. The STVM Boys Soccer Parents handled parking, ticket booth, signage set up/tear down, back of house and beer sale duties. The Band Boosters provided support and a full service concession stand. The STVM Athletic Boosters provided support on a number of behind the scenes administrative initiatives and the STVM football coaching staff graciously allowed ACFC to use their locker room facilities.

St. Vincent-St. Mary High School is a four-year co-educational, college preparatory, Marianist sponsored and STEM designated Catholic high school. STVM has been an integral part of the Akron community for more than 100 years, providing quality education rooted in Catholic faith. More than 17,000 alumni are proud to be a part of the school’s rich history. STVM’s goal is to provide for the well-rounded spiritual, academic, emotional, and physical development of our students. Akron City FC is a member of the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), the only league designated by the USASA as a Tier 1 national league. The team will kick off its second season this May with home games being played on the campus of St. Vincent-St. Mary High School. The schedule is expected to be released in early March. The team’s inaugural 2022 campaign proved to be a smash hit with the community as 19 companies joined as Founding Partners.
